Exactly, Christopher! Then again, when you do the numbers and see what those 24 teachers are making, it might be they're not cream of the crop.

The interesting thing is that the last study that I read about on the class size issue (in the Washington Post) found that it didn't make any difference. In trying to explain the results, the presumption was that teachers do not spend commensurate time with individual students...My own observation from St. John's seminars was that the difference between 21 and 18 was slight, but the difference between 18 and 15 was enormous. There seems to be a "critical number", where the dynamic changes markedly.....
