If I were an Indonesian General I'd be jumping up and down screaming that it's not a human rights issue at all, that the whole E. Timor resistance is a CIA-backed conspiracy to pry an 11 billion dollar oil field out of the hands of a third world country with nationalist aspirations and turn it over to the pinks. And that all the bleeding hearts who support the Timorese are being manipulated by the CIA and the oil companies. The interventionists would all be seized by acute bouts of schizophrenia and forced to dash off for extended therapy sessions, and resistance would collapse. I assume that will be recognized as a joke...
