Besides Sony (which definitely is not a pure play on gaming) I am not considering the Sega, Nintendo, Activision and Bandai of this world. There are other non-pure plays like Acer with their very popular paid for Majoon site within the Chinese community. Do not know much about Acer other than they are more of a box maker. Prefer the appearance of diversification and the "gee, we found gold" nature of Sony. However, I am thinking about some of the software companies that supply and or distribute Sony games. Check WSJ/Barron's within the past 60 days for mention of the game folks (hardware and software). I think games could drive subscription eyeballs...to wit Ultima game character sales prices achieved recently. Most of the neat network game initiatives are ahead of us and not in serious existence yet.
