I used to wake up in the middle of the night an awful lot. I had the 3am syndrome, too. Now it's mostly just on weekends if I've taken an afternoon nap. I'm very fond of afternoon naps. Since the computer is right by me, logging on doesn't require getting up.

I do like to write at night. And I like being awake at night. The world is (usually) so quiet then. And the dark is easy on the eyes. Daytime gets so overwhelming with noise and energy. I think that contributes to being able to be more creative then.
