Monday September 13, 9:02 am Eastern Time Company Press Release EMC Showcases Advanced SAP Information Infrastructure Solutions for E-commerce New AESIS Initiative Helps Customers Manage Share and Protect Information For Enterprise SAP Solutions PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1999-- EMC Corporation, the world's leading provider of enterprise storage systems, software, networks and services, is demonstrating the strategic importance of effectively implementing secure, reliable and scalable e-commerce, Internet and ERP applications to an estimated 10,000 users attending SAPPHIRE'99, the annual North American SAP conference.
EMC is demonstrating a number of new Advanced EMC/SAP Infrastructure Solutions (AESIS), which detail the technical aspects of successful SAP e-commerce and ERP applications at some of the world's leading companies. In addition, EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems are playing a key role at the Philadelphia Convention Center event. For a second straight year, EMC systems are supporting multiple Unix and Windows NT servers running SAP R/3 demonstrations on the show floor. The major theme of this year's event centers on mySAP.COM, SAP's Internet and e-commerce strategy.
The new AESIS initiative, created by both EMC and SAP, provides customers with best-practices documentation to assist them when deploying enterprise-wide SAP applications. Its focus is on implementing disaster-resistant SAP applications, developing non-disruptive backup and restore environments, and the use of second instance SAP applications utilizing multiple copies of data. The initiative, which includes integrated services, technical support and detailed documentation, addresses ways customers can maximize system performance and information availability, protection and management through EMC Enterprise Storage systems and software.
''We have been successfully working with EMC to provide customers with enterprise storage infrastructure solutions since 1996,'' said Wolfgang Becker, Vice President, Advanced Technology Group at SAP AG. ''The AESIS initiative is an ideal forum to document these proven and jointly supported solutions to assist in the deployment of new business critical SAP applications. mySAP.com will increase the demand for these best-practices even more as e-commerce sites require maximum performance and availability. This program is one way to help our customers build and maintain a competitive advantage.''
Frank Farese, EMC's Vice President of Global Alliances, added, ''Speed to market is critical in the digital economy. Companies are looking for the fastest, safest and most effective way to start or expand their Internet initiatives or to deploy a more traditional ERP application, encompassing all of their organization's information. EMC and SAP are working together to help customers fully leverage our combined experience and expertise, in addition to our superior technology, when deploying these large-scale solutions.''
SAP is a member of EMC's Global Alliances program and EMC is an SAP Technology Partner, an SAP Complementary Software Partner and a TeamSAP Partner. In addition, EMC maintains a technical center at SAP headquarters in Germany and the two companies have signed a maintenance and technical support agreement to provide joint customers with the highest levels of service and support.
