Dave B and thread, here is a link that will explain all forms of DRAM. Once the link is opened if you go down about 1/2 the page to Direct RDRAM for their explaination.

An open question for the bears:

A perennial reason that the bears have provided for why Rambus will be a failure is that the price premium over SDRAM was too great.

Now that SDRAM prices are increasing, it appears that the cry has changed to "Rambus will fail because SDRAM prices are too close, so why build Rambus?" (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=11223690).

So, at first the price differential was too great for Rambus to succeed. Now the price differential is too little.

So the question is: What is exactly the perfect price differential to give Rambus the best chance of succeeding? An estimate to the nearest nickel would be fine.
