Newfield Reports Offshore Blowout
HOUSTON, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Newfield Exploration Company (NYSE: NFX - news) announced today that at approximately 5:30 a.m. Sunday, September 12, the A-2 gas well blowout ignited at the Ship Shoal Block 354 (OCS-G 15312) production platform. Newfield is the operator of the platform which is located approximately 140 miles south of New Orleans, LA in 463 feet of water. The initial blowout occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, during a workover operation on the well.
