IMF & Sudan,

Interesting that just Sudan is the IMFïs single largest loan recipient. $1.7 billion (30 August) is "big bucks". Sorta makes you think that the underlying creditors of the loan would want the country not to go to hell in a bucket.

Saudi company enters the field of oil investment in Sudan
Agreement On Establishment Of Oil Depot Signed

Khartoum, Sept. 19 (SUNA)- An agreement on establishment of an oil depot at Al-Gaili area near Khartoum Refinery was concluded here Saturday between the National Petroleum Company (Sudan) and the Saudi Al-Asama commercial company.

The signing ceremony of the agreement was held at the Green Village Hotel here in the presence of a number of ministers of the economic sector

General Director of the National Petroleum Company (Sudan) Ahmed Majzoub signed for the company, while Director General of Al-Asama Company Dr. Abu-Oubeida Khairi Hafiz signed on behalf of the Saudi company.

According to the agreement the Saudi Al-Asama Commercial Company is to finance the project with 1,312,763 dollars.

The project is to be implemented by Danfodio Commercial and Contracting Corporation. Construction work in the project is to start immediately and is to be completed in a five month period.

The storage capacity of the depot is 840,000 gallons and covers an area of 20,000 squire metres.

Addressing the ceremony, the Minister of Finance and National Economy Dr. Abdul-Wahab Osman commended the step of the National Petroleum Company (Sudan) for entering the field of petroleum investment, hailing the initiative of the Saudi company for entering the field of oil investment in the Sudan.

Energy and Mining Minister Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, on his part, expressed hope that the project will be good prelude for other joint projects, affirming support of the Ministry to the National Petroleum Company (Sudan) projects.

The Director General of the Saudi company expressed pleasure over the conclusion of the agreement and the commencement of cooperation between his company and the National Petroleum Company (Sudan), noting that the agreement will be a good start for a wider cooperation between the two companies.
