Presumably matter and energy existed; in what form we do not know. We don't know how they got there. The notion that a creation presupposes a conscious creator is not personally relevant to me; I'm only interested in how matter and energy got to where we are now. There is a great deal we don't understand about this process. When we encounter something we don't understand, we can either proclaim it evidence of divine intervention and discourage further inquiry or we can try to understand why things are the way they are.

If people had not finally begun to take the latter course in preference to the former, we would not be where we are today.

everything that is, including organisms, the universe, consciousness, emotion, artistic expression, ideas, intellect,

Your description here... the universe, organism, artistic impression, intellect... could imply an acceptance of evolution. Is that correct? I'm just curious, because I don't see too many willing to accept creationism and evolution in parallel. We have definitive proof of evolution with regards to man evolving from apes imo... there is certainly a lot there in olduvai gorge that defies explanation if not for evolution. On a few occasions I have heard people of faith (that I otherwise felt were thoughtful) dismiss the scientific evidence of evolution of man as another vast conspiracy theory. That kind of thing is how myths of ignorance get propagated on either side, imo.

After you are done laughing, answer this. How much consciousness, emotion, artistic expression, ideas, or intellect would you possess if, from the moment of your birth, you were never taught anything. You would have no exposure to books, art, ideas, emotion, etc., only fed so that you wouldn't die. All of these things are the result of absorbing the collective wisdom passed on to us by all of our ancestors, just as it was passed to them.

It happens much the same way that physical evolution does, with bad ideas falling by the wayside, and the good ones prevailing. Many of the "new" ideas come to us by observing nature, and trial and error.
