Wes. . some thoughts on the GIC/MOT rumor. . . .

First, the rumor is out of LA [MOT in IL and GIC in PA]. . .and it is just a rumor. Second, if it is a 9.5 bil deal, and that GIC shareholders would get half a MOT. . . that would not be good at all. . . GIC has traded recently up closer to 54, while half of 98 is 49. . . so instead of a nice premium for shareholders. . . we would get spanked by 5 bucks.

Third, even if the rumor turns out to be false. . .the arbitrage community will take positions today short-selling MOT and going long GIC. . . .if this action takes MOT lower, it will reduce GIC value at a rate of 2:1 for each MOT point shaved.

All in all, I don't see anything to celebrate about. . . but the rumor is out of LA and is just a rumor. . . so by the time the CEO shows up to work this morning, in a few hours. . .he may still have time to deny the rumor BEFORE the market opens. . . at which time I would stay bullish on GIC.

This is not the way you want your baby to be taken out.
