McGinn's keynote will focus on Lucent's view of communications networking and how technology has changed over the past year. News Highlights: Lucent InterNetworking Systems In the enterprise data networking arena, Lucent will be demonstrating for the first time its recently-announced SuperPipe 95 and 155 Multiservice Access Routers and the Cajun(TM) P330(TM) Switching System. The SuperPipe products are integrated VPN-enabled, next-generation, ''all-in-one,'' multiservice voice, data, video access routers for small to mid-sized businesses. The Cajun P330 stackable switches redefine the level of functionality available in this class product, and extends Lucent's Switch Architecture For Extreme Resiliency (SAFER(TM)) technology to the wiring closet, and introduces EZ2Route(TM), a revolutionary self-configuring Internet Protocol (IP) routing technology designed to simplify the deployment of high-performance multilayer networks. In addition, Lucent will be demonstrating for the first time, Stinger(TM), its breakthrough Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) access concentrator that allows service providers to deliver business and residential customers high-quality voice, data and video services over one copper connection. NetCare In the service and support arena, Lucent NetCare will be unveiling an interactive web site called eSIGHT(TM) (http://www.netcare.esight.com). eSight is the cornerstone of Lucent NetCare's vision and strategy for e-services and support and marks a major expansion of this web site. Some 500 technicians will staff 14 centers around the world providing 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week services and support for the full range of Lucent's data networking products and services. Communications Software Lucent's Communications Software Group will demonstrate a new consumer calling service and the Lucent Softswitch IP telephony software will also be on display. Microelectronics (Booth 5137) In the semiconductor arena, Lucent Microelectronics will be announcing an optical transponder (consisting of laser transmitter, photodetector and associated drive electronics) and a SONET interface system-on-a-chip into one module. The company will also announce a SONET system-on-a-chip called Super Mapper, that transfers traffic in multiple protocols (TSI, IP, ATM) from local exchange networks or edge networks to broadband transport networks (SONET/SDH). The company will also announce a high-speed laser driver chip fabricated in BiCMOS instead of gallium arsenide.
