TimeStep(r) introduces a fully redundant secure IP-VPN solution that supports extended authentication KANATA-ONTARIO--Device redundancy with no interruption in service, and support for all two-factor authentication methods are key to VPN deployments TimeStep Corporation, the leading provider of proven large-scale secure IP-VPN solutions, today announced the release of PERMIT Enterprise(tm) version 2.0, the latest generation of TimeStep's award winning IP-VPN product suite. To meet the evolving needs of today's business environment, TimeStep has added redundancy and extended authentication for remote access. TimeStep is also introducing an enhanced version of its award-winning VPN gateway hardware, the PERMIT/Gate(tm) 4620. Improving upon its PERMIT/Gate(tm) 4520 platform, the new VPN gateway supports more than 1000 simultaneous secure sessions, giving it the largest tunnel capacity in its class. "The market demands support for existing investments in authentication and billing infrastructure and redundant connectivity to support mission-critical applications." said Tim Hember, president and CEO of TimeStep Corporation. "With the latest version of PERMIT Enterprise, TimeStep once again has surpassed the demands of the market and underscored its leadership position in the IP-VPN industry." TimeStep is the first secure IP-VPN product vendor to support IKE-XAUTH which allows the RADIUS protocol to be used securely over the Internet. Now in both PERMIT/Client(tm)and PERMIT/Gate, RADIUS authentication can be used with or without a PKI and both products support any standard authentication service, such as ACE/SecurID, SafeWord, ActiveCard, Windows NT, and DNS domain login. With this release, TimeStep also introduces gateway clustering technology that offers unsurpassed reliability for use in mission-critical environments or for service providers to offer real VPN service level agreements (SLAs). Gateways are arranged in a cluster where the master and slaves maintain all secure connections. This results in no disruption in service due to gateway failures, software upgrades, or replacing/swapping hardware. TimeStep's PERMIT Enterprise suite now also includes: - support for RADIUS accounting which enables NSPs that are deploying managed VPNs to use their existing billing applications to bill customers for VPN usage. - Dedicated Tunneling which creates one secure tunnel back to the gateway for all VPN traffic and ensures that corporate policy is enforced on all traffic before reaching its final destination.
