Water cooler talk

Since things are quiet now, maybe it's a good time to discuss J6P's state of mind. This is what I've been hearing from my friends and acquaintances:

High-tech players are about breaking even. They're frustrated by their lack of gains, but they don't see anything unusual going on in the market and will stick to their regular strategies.

More conservative stock pickers are talking about reducing their stock exposure before the end of the year.

Mutual fund investors have a resigned attitude. They worry there'll be a downturn but they're not prepared to do anything about it.

I haven't met anyone lately who's excited about the stock market. The main mood is of mild concern and uncertainty.

Is that similar to what the rest of you are hearing?
