Blue, sure am glad to hear the wild fowl numbers are more now overall if not around here. Old Dear Pal, wasn't intending to imply any point of hunters having a bad effect, seeing now it might be taken as such from what I wrote later in the post so to clarify - Mourning the sight of the autumn geese migration darkening the sky around here as no more was simply that - regretting a change not for the better not citing a reason. It's more citified now would why; no public and little private hunting within a half hour of here it's too crowded. Glad to hear what you said about fowl being smart enough to fly around city areas. To not always be living so removed from nature, is my plan. Hunting is necessary to maintain quality & balance of species. It's good to keep such a profound tie to the core of who we are as human animals needing to survive. Hate to admit being a sissy used to buying my food in a grocery store all prepared wrapped in cellophane but that's who I am. Was a vegetarian for a few years in my '20's, not really from any repulsion at eating meat for idealistic reasons but because it was the healthiest freshest easiest and cheapest diet for me at that time and place. Agree that to rank importance of life moots the attempted point when reasons of pure idealism are claimed. Survival of self loved ones & species ranks before all others alive, before abstract hypotheticals especially. Blue, your experiment showing the reaction of a plant to a match is Truth. Watching trees talk to one another entwining branches in the breeze growing leaning toward each other is Truth too. And anyone who says they'd let their family go cold rather than cut those beautiful trees down for firewood if necessary is either missing some important connection within or they're blithering. Hunting Is Truth. Being a fair shot would love hanging around quiet outdoors in the blind, philosophizing, working alongside a dog, bagging the hunt, and cooking it delicious proudly AFTER someone else prepares it - just wasn't raised hunting so it's the work in between the bagging and the cooking would dread getting used to if the opportunity came up in my life(which like anyone's has its limits). Fantasizing about owning a sailboat is another dream limited by the confines of my life and upbringing; know enough of the hard work, practice, and expertise required there too so sensibly realizing I wouldn't be Doing This One Right As Is, either. But if a reason came to apply myself fully learning either of these skills, could do so. It wasn't easy learning about the stocks at first and sometimes it still isn't, either. Gotta do whatcha gotta do. 909s2U On The Ducks & In All... Your long tine friend, Joanie
