Sorry for intruding in your conversation with Alan, but this is a public forum and I want to understand where you're coming from here. In the passage from Paul's letter, he is contending with some Jewish Christians who were arguing at the time that Gentile Christians should follow Jewish religious law. May I ask what you think that has to do with Alan? Are you saying he's trying to tell you you should keep kosher or something? Or do you think, perhaps, Paul just wrote this so that Gentile Christians could have something to throw in the faces of Jewish Christians centuries later?
