I like this part in the EDS release...

"Competition at the moment is nil. ... We will be the only comprehensive Internet billing player for months to come," he said in a telephone conference call from European IT Forum 1999, an industry show in Paris.

The electronic bill payment and presentation system that EDS will offer in Europe uses the same Web-based technology it already markets in North America for use over the public Internet and intranets

And, here is a graphical detail showing Transport and CheckFree as the payment engines, supplied by Willy_Trader, over on the Yahoo thread...

Does EDS have an agreement with Transpoint as well. It appears that way from these diagrams.

EDS isn't going overseas without either of its sometimes U.S. e-billing partners CheckFree (CKFR: news, msgs) or TransPoint, a joint venture linking Microsoft (MSFT: news, msgs) and First Data Corp. (FDC: news, msgs). The company is "discussing" possible relationships with European banks, executives said in a conference call Monday.
