One possible explanation for the drop in QCOM today may have to do with an article in today's BARRON'S, the thrust of which is that all technology stocks are becoming overpriced. The article doesn't mention QCOM by name, but instead groups stocks like Lucent, IBM, Cisco, Sun, Intel, MSFT, AOL and the like together to claim that perhaps they're all too high. The thinking, in my view, is pretty fuzzy, as it does not distinguish between favorable and unfavorable aspects of the various companies cited in the article. Because these are the key names in technology, however, the entire group of technology stocks, whether mentioned or not, could easily be affected. I would suggest that anyone who gets caught up in all of this and is contemplating selling ought to spend a little more time considering whether the market for CDMA is starting to level off or is expanding so rapidly that none of the suppliers can meet the demand. If the latter, then maybe QCOM is once again "in a buying range." Art Bechhoefer
