being good at it can be an initial disadvantage, because it is difficult to imagine what the problem is. After awhile, though, with good will and an effort to draw them out, one can usually figure out something that will help to clarify.....

Altogether true on all counts. I remember one economics class in college in which the guy taught to the top of the class. I had no trouble with the concepts, so I started tutoring as a favor to some of the students that were floundering. Pretty soon, I found myself holding class for half the class! Saved several people from failing and all I got was a bottle of champagne. Hmmph! <GGG>

Actually, I found that the process of explaining helped to clarify in my own mind what the concepts and issues were.
