I really like Audi's Quattro option (full-time 4 wheel drive). It drives like the car is on rails.
If there's an Audi dealer near you, pop in an take a test drive just for the fun of it.
The only negative about the A4 is the back seat is kind of small.

**OT**

Hate to say bad things about Volvo since being an owner of three of them since 1984, but the Cross Country is the worse auto we have ever had! Has been at the dealer for a total of 45 days with rear suspension and engine computer problems. Every time we take the wagon out we never know what is going to fall off it next. Our model is a 1998.

Do yourself a favor and look at the AUDI A4 or A6 quattro wagons.

I am older and wiser concerning Volvo.
