OK lets look as some alternatives reasons for todays story:-

1. BAD reasons:-

1.1 Earnings warning. Results too awful to contemplate. IMHO not very likely. So far as we know sales are good and although prices may be down its still difficult to get thin phones, show me where I can get a PdQ (I want one today) and the last we heard was that there was a shortage of components. I don't rule this one out but it doesn't look likely and I would even have thoght its a little too early to get real numbers so they'd be cautious about a high profile pull out like this.

1.2 There is something wrong with the ITU going for 3G with the Q's system?

1.3 There is something wrong with a patent or one of the Q's devices has been bettered by a new GSM development?

1.4 AT&T are going to buy Vodaphone and drop CDMA or something similar?

1.5 Oh yes the Korean or other major chip maker going to compete as pointed out in the Korean info posts a couple of posts ago. But even that isn't all bad as presumably someone has to pay the Q a royalty.

I guess that 1.2 - 1.4 could be possible but unlikely.

Now GOOD reasons:-

2.1 Take-over of another company.

2.2 Takeover by another company.

2.3. Merger with a major.

2.4. Sale of division or handsets?

2.5. Vodaphone is going to buy AT&T wireless.

2.6. A huge technological breakthrough???

2.7. A tie up with MSFT????

Seems to me there are many more possibilities that are positive than negative.

Whatever it is must be big and it just doesn't feel like it could be negative after all the good and developing news we have heard for months now.

Best regards,

L
