Do you think the gay-income demographic might be skewed by a reluctance among lower-income gays to "come out" and be counted as gay? Prejudice does seem to be both stronger and more violent among the less educated and less affluent...

You asked Dennis and I'd like to hear his thoughts but my gay friends think this... also I believe the ones that do come out are likely in SF and NYC, and hence are likely to have higher incomes to compensate for the higher cost of living.

I do think that is possible. Also gays tend to live in large cities as someone else has mentioned. Larger cities tend to have better wages but also tend to be more expensive to live in. If you are taking the city pay and comparing them to national averages then that will also skew the result. As I have said before from my experience gays seem to be pretty much a cross section of all levels of the socio economic strata.
