The difference between A.B. Watley and MB Trading is their clearing firms, Penson Financial and Southwest Securities, respectively. Generally, Southwest has a much larger list of stocks to short each day (probably because of the relative size of the clearing firms), but in general you can always call ABW and borrow shares for the stock that you'd like to short if it wasn't on the morning's short list. In some cases, you'll be restricted to an intraday short only, but it's rare.
