From the pump up the volume PR:

In fact, C-Cube would look even more attractive if Motorola (NYSE:MOT - news) and General Instrument (NYSE:GIC - news) do in fact merge, since Motorola wants to push its chips into the digital market.

What do they mean? Motorola? Cube?
Should it read" "Motorola wants to push Cube's chips" ???????

History:
Way back in the day, Cube and MOT competed for the first first major MPEG decoder design win. Cube won the contract (at least they thought so) for the rumored 1mm chips. The Cube folks were estatic and celebrated.
Next week the customer changed thier minds an went with MOT for their MPEG decoder. The only other choice at the time.
That win/loss was for the Philips CDI player (a flop). Pretty much the last time we heard anything of MOT's decoder.

So, does MOT have their own MPEG2 decoder?
Yep: mot-sps.com

Hmm...
