Thanks, Cap. . .good article. This paragraph puts things in perspective:

HISTORY OF CATEGORY 5
Only two category 5 hurricanes have hit the United
States since records have been kept: the unnamed Labor
Day hurricane of 1935, which slammed the Florida Keys
and killed 423, and Camille, which killed 256 people along
the Gulf Coast and in Virginia in 1969.


And the third Category 5 hurricane to strike America since records were kept. . .is headed straight for South Florida.

20 foot storm surge expected in the Bahamas as far as 6 miles inland? That is a sobering thought, since perhaps 85 percent of South Florida's population lives within 6 miles of the ocean. Again, this is not a hurricane to weather in your house. This is the one where you pack the car and drive over to Naples then turn north and drive as far as you must to find a place to stay. . . .and if you have no where left to turn. .
