I had worked for Keane for over 10 years and have connections to the Albany, NY, NYC, and Tampa Florida branch offices. It is not easy for one without connections to get this information but I am certain there are posters here and on the other chat boards that are employees of Keane. KEA's Florida branch was hit hard and is still reeling from a poor buiness climate in that area. All three that I follow have more people coming off of Y2K efforts that can not be placed on new projects. In Tampa, I estimate more than 1/3 of the work force has been laid off and there openings only for a few specialty areas. I think Keane will come out of this ok but that it is too early and that the next couple qtrs will disapoint. When I again hear that they can not fill positions then its time to again take a position. Note: Keane is not alone, contacts at Computer Horizons tell me the same story over there. Lastly, even in the worst of times I coould always get a job at Keane in NYC. Today, if you call, they will tell you they are not hiring at this time. Perhaps around Feb of 2000 pent up demand due to delayed or suspended projects may turn things around. Right now at least in Tampa, there hundreds of consultants circulating their resumes with little luck. Some are good friends who very competent. I could be wrong here but in checking on the health of these brances enabled me to exit from my KEA stock at a much higher price than todays. I love to trade this stock because of my connections. I hope to be back in sometime in late January if news from the branches I monitor are positive.
