CRYO-CELL Awarded Patent on CCEL III Variable Capacity Cellular Storage System

September 17, 1999 01:14 PM
CLEARWATER, Fla., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel D. Richard, Chairman, Chief Executive of CRYO-CELL International, Inc., CCEL , announced today that the U.S. Patent Office had granted a patent to the Company on its CCEL III cryogenic cellular storage system. Robert E. Vago, Vice President of Research and Development, invented the CCEL III and has assigned all rights to CRYO-CELL International, Inc.
According to Mr. Vago, "This robotically operated computer-controlled unit can take CRYO-CELL well into the 21st century. Each CCEL III installation can commence vial storage with one dewar, one computer and one robot. Each dewar can be factory-configured to contain the same or differing vial types, as required. The storage capacity of each dewar ranges from 17,500 five- milliliter to 1,000,000 one-tenth milliliter vials. Each CCEL III installation can be field-retrofitted to contain up to eight storage dewars; each dewar is served by the same original computer and robot."

The Company has been advised that the Mitsubishi robots which were manufactured for CRYO-CELL as part of the CCEL III are an advanced design to the ones used by Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals, where they have operated 24 hours/day for the past 15 years without failure.

The Company's attorneys are filing for patents in 17 European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, the Benelux countries, plus Canada, Japan and others.
