No arguments.
I would point out that IBM has recovered very nicely, however. While not the behemoth they once were in the computing world, they are a force to be reckoned with, and have adapted INCREDIBLY well to the new world.
CPQ, I'm willing to bet, will do the same. Their Digital bet is just starting to payoff. We won't see it for another year, but it's there.

Your bashing comparison is correct. I suspect if ORCL is supremely successful, they will come under fire in the next 3 years.
ORCL is, without a doubt, on the cutting edge right now. If they can produce a DB that is as simple to use as a spreadsheet (as LE mentioned), they will OWN the office space.

Brand name counts for alot here in the US...AAPL would be dead EXCEPT for 2 things: name recognition in the top 5 of all brands & the return of vision in Steve Jobs.
MSFT could well sense this as an opportunity, and shift the vision properly. We don't know. And they have the money and market power to make a good portion of their own vision happen.

As I said, I don't disagree. But I prefer to keep an eye on the big guy. You never know what to expect. Besides, doesn't it pay to keep your friends close and your enemies closer? (gotta love The Godfather).
