Thank-you for taking the time to post such a complete description of H&P's book. From time to time, people post questions which, although interesting, are too complex to be answered in the necessarily brief posts on threads such as this. Rather than 'simplify until wrong', it would be better to cite a book like this where the question could be answered both completely and accurately. Cheers, PW. P.S. I was browsing the Computer Book section of Chapters (the biggest book store in my city) and I found the selection overwhelming. I'll see if I can find H&P and skim it over a coffee, before bringing it home. (I'm cheap!) P.P.S. Looking over the Computer books sure brought to my attention the vast quantity of knowledge I'm missing. Skimming the shelves, I'm feel lucky to spot a book where I can understand the cover, let alone the contents.
