Actually we drink Starbucks all day and to mellow out at night we drink ourselves to sleep with delicious Redhooks. Best beer in the world!

Those are pretty much my own choices as I sip my fourth cup of Starbucks Kenya this morning, get ready to head down the street for an afternoon power espresso frappucino. And there are several Redhooks in the 'fridge: Blonde Ale, Rye, and ESB. But if I'm in a more mellow mood in the evening, I might go instead for a glass (oh, maybe two) of that wonderful Chateau Ste. Michelle 1997 Semillon that's also chilling in there. Now, that's good stuff.

Pier 70 pictures
For those curious about what GNET's new home looks like, I scanned a couple of pictures I took a little over a month ago from the bay. It was a cloudy day, so these pics lack the sparkle that they'd get from the sunshine, but you can get the idea.

It's a huge building that is being gutted for the new offices. I believe that the exterior may be "historically significant" so there's unlikely to be much change in the outward appearance, but it's obvious that the interior, which is now gone, is going to be something completely new. (That's probably a good thing. The back end of the building was most recently a dance club that was finally closed down by our, umm.. aggressive Guliano-like city attorney after a few folks lost their lives in gun battles in the parking lot.)

Here are the pictures: halcyon.com

On the bottom picture, you can see some of the neighbors. Most folks will recognize the Space Needle which is several blocks uphill to the west. The black building with white stripes just to the left is the headquarters of Airborne Express. To the left of the Needle's leg is one window of the new headquarters for RealNetworks which is about two blocks from Pier 70. The Port of Seattle has its headquarters in another remodeled pier next door at Pier 69. Visio, a software company, just moved into its new headquarters down the street at Pier 66.
