Remembering the walking stock-market history book.
#reply-2039280 GZ, << Why are you angry?>> In part, I am angry, angry for the young people who can't know better, who are being brainwashed by all these pipe dreams about not having to work, not having to study. Just invest, sit back, let your money work for you, computer controlled machines will do all the work, humans will just sit in lazy-boys, drink beer, and watch monday nite football. A couple of years to loose is a lot when one is eighteen or twenty one. Students drop out of school to day trade, engineers become brokers, etc. Who cares about doing good work, building careers, etc when all you have to do is to get lucky "investing"? Investing in what? In financial engeeneered Cos, which don't care about building a business, but only about cashing in the managements' options?
This is The Big Picture. As Adam Smith wrote long ago, wealth of a nation is in its people. When a lot of these people spend days watching stock quotes, and dreaming of not doing any work, a nation can't be wealthy.
