Bill, Yardeni is an economist. Economists don't know whether or not the country had a recession until about 6-9 months after it started, by which time it's probably over. Economists are never held accountable for their forecasts no matter how far off the mark they may have been. They just go onto the next forecast as if they were the Delphi Oracle. (Really, they're more like the Eliason Oracle tonight and tomorrow, or however Larry spells his name). And Ed can always claim that his articulate warnings of the Y2K danger was the direct cause of company leaders getting off their lazy butts and doing something to prevent the disaster he had foreseen. What a wonderful service he has performed for the world. ;-) Ian.
