heinz - ok, and i agree with many of the comparisons to the past (in terms of the manias = radio, railroads, etc.).

but what i'd like to see - and unfortunately, i don't have the data to check it out - is whether we look like 1958 or 1928, for example, on the charts. i'll use a comparison to express my point.

if you find a stock that's a rinky dink pc company, you can say "look! they're just like dell! buy and hold, 16000$ for $1 today..." however, if you look at ALL the companies that would also match the comparison, you'd find the chances are real small.

my question is how many times has an environment like ours (whether big board or naz) existed? my personal opinion is that the dow is topping (mainly b/c of nh/nl), but i know in the 50s the market went strong for a few years of that. and the naz is another story...
