I agree - DELL has the wherewithal to do what they want. But an investment that would put them into the storage business in a serious way WOULD be in the billions. Long term that would probably be a smart play, but my sense is that short term some people would move out of the stock - "oh no, here's another DEC acquisition in the making". DELL is to some extent a captive of its own success and they need to move carefully to avoid disrupting the smooth running machine while they transition.
