Most if not all of the relevant new product releases slated for Q4 should be out by then, so a pretty good picture of how Intel sees its business going forward should emerge.

There are zero marginal costs associated with ordering your next desktop box with one CPU or another in it. If you switch databases, and screw up the migration, it can destroy you business.

That's why they've been dropping prices on them every two weeks, Intel just hates the thought of making money and so they've decided they aren't going to anymore. :-)

I think Intel's elevated stock price is based on Intel delivering revenues and earnings well above the guidance levels of "flat to slightly up" for Q3, even if they "predict" a blow away Q4.

Inflated expectations can lead to rapidly deflated stock prices.
