Yes, it is. Yet as has come up on this thread for discussion many times, it influences so much of what is not normally perceived to be "deep"--i.e., day-to-day interactions and perceptions. (Oh, dear, X will be coming after me with a meat cleaver: I am sounding like a psychologist. Yet I think it wiser to acknowledge the influences in our lives than to deny them and thus allow them free rein.)
