Caxton: Congratulations on your perception that the ASICs, not the phones, are the razor blades for the CDMA razor. Assume you also include the Q's related software which makes the ASICs work in the phone "boxes" and the base stations. While I am not yet convinced that an outright sale of the entire phone production operation - including that in Brazil and the one coming up in Mexico - will happen as most here think it will - (I see a more complex and therefore more practical solution - a flexible combination of continuing to make G* phones in house, contract manufacturing in Brazil and Mexico, and perhaps some neat relationship with a European manufacturer in return for the CDMA One overlay entry into Fortress Europa), if it does and the goal is not so much a "deal" with a European powerhouse to gain entry of CDMA into Europe but is focused on maximum efficiency per se, then suggest that Dell would be the best alternative to assemble the phone "boxes". The techniques of assembly and efficiency at which Dell excells should be awesome when applied to the plastic boxes which are phones. What do all the recently arrived Dellheads here think of this possibility? Chaz PS Could Dell sell as efficiently to the service providers - i.e. a wholesale operation? This would be a different model than the direct sales to consumers which is a major skill in the current Dell approach.
