infinite number of possibilities
It's close enough to infinite. Actually there is a huge huge number of possibilities but it is not infinite. There are only a finite number of waves and particles and some are so far apart that they cannot affect each other. From our scale though the number immense, staggering, huge - we don't even have a decent description for how big it is, but it's less than infinite.
