Pat, Interesting article. I am building a house and just decided yesterday to bury a 2 inch conduit to carry fiber from the road 1100 feet up to the house (I was told it would cost me 8X to do it later). There is dark fiber owned by MediaOne at the end of the driveway. It will be interesting to see if AT&T/mediaone lease out the usage or directly use it in the future. There are at least 5 carrier access optical start-ups here in MA. 2 years from now, there should be some very interesting products/services available in this space.
