Luc, i agree that the status of the buck as a 'fiat' currency makes a big difference...after all, the Fed can monetize outstanding debt and try to avoid a deflationary episode that way. and no doubt they won't hesitate to do so. political door-mat sounds about right...he's no moron, he knows exactly what's going on.
