I do not know if Intel had the same challenge

I just got through reading "Intel Inside", by Tim Jackson, published in '97.

The impression I am left with is that Intel was a good Fab house for memory that lucked into it with the 8086 processor chip when IBM started to use it, and then capitalized on the situation. It is a very similar story to MSFT.
