Hello. Every IPO I've ever heard of has a lock-up period for shareholders.

I think that if Palm is to gain the full benefit (in terms of establishing alliances etc. with other companies like LU,CSCO, etc) in needs to be completely independent of COMS.
I just don't see that happening if COMS held such a large stake. If you were talking 5-10% I don't think that would stop anyone, but 20% might deter a COMS competitor from getting involved.

I don't see why you think that distribution to shareholders = liquidation of position. I just don't see that shareholders would be in such a hurry to bail on what may be the best part of 3Com. (I assume you agree else you would not agree with Gary that 3Com is crap w/o palm.)
Coms just needs a new leader.

My personal opinion is that COMS should just spin off palm 100%...never mind the IPO nonsense.
