This is how I calculated it:

I sold 500 shares of MOT at 88 5/16=44156
44156 divided by 48.5 = 910 GIC shares
910 * .575 = 523.25 shares of MOT after the conversion

commission can come out of cash and taxes are minimal since the MOT profit was very small.
