DJ Viacom, ACTV Units In Interactive Internet/TV Venture NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Viacom Inc.'s (VIA) Showtime Networks Inc. unit formed a venture with ACTV Inc.'s (IATV) HyperTV Networks Inc. unit to provide television viewers with complementary Web content for Showtime programming. Financial terms weren't disclosed. In a press release Wednesday, Showtime said the companies plan to launch a pilot program in the fourth quarter that allows viewers to receive online information about programs airing concurrently on Showtime. The program will begin with Showtime's Sci-Friday programming lineup and boxing franchises, the company said. A company spokesman said the companies expect to expand the online venture to include additional Showtime programs, subject to consumer response. Showtime will use HyperTV's technology to provide programming information to television viewers who own both a TV sets and computers, allowing them to answer trivia questions and correspond with each other online, the spokesman added. ACTV, New York, develops programming for emerging digital and Internet platforms.
