The point is that the pro-life position seems to hinge on the unborn as a (dependent) life... separate from the mother... a distinct human being. Of course the unborn relies on the mother for life support and if that life support is removed, this life will die - the pro-life set claims this is murder. My question is what is the difference from looking at a fetus this way vs. the situation where a relative needs blood or organs from another relative to sustain their life. We don't have laws that say a parent or sibling must donate bone marrow or blood in the case of a dying relative. It seems to me this is a dichotomy the pro-lifers will not address... if they choose to call a fetus a life then it has some rights to life... but it shouldn't have more than anybody else... or does the pro-life crowd think that laws should be passed to force organ donation?
