I wouldn't call the whole of the Davidians innocent (if that's what you're referring to), but as more comes out on that, I must agree with you. The government's getting out of control. (That's a bit off topic for this thread though, isn't it?)

OTOTfreeus, I try and abide by thread rules and stick to the subject, here being evolution. Personally I agree that religious thoughts ought to be taught to kids as decided by their parents or as part of broad approach such as " History of Religions and Religious thought". Otherwise you are going to have schizophrenic high school graduates who will not understand why religious symbolism is allowed sometimes in schools ( name of God in coins; oaths to God before trials, before commencing Congressional sessions, Declaration of Independence etc etc ) and not in others. Children are especially confused by what they are taught in public schools ( we came from mud ) and what they are taught at home ( they were created by God ). When we ask why are our children schizophrenic that I believe is the answer: schizophrenic teaching. At least we ought to be consistent. If we eliminate religious teaching from high schools we should wipe God from coins; from oaths in office and in court; from giving government money to religious schools ( veterans' scholarships to Notre Dame Univ for example etc etc ) TA Message #526 from freeus at Sep 15 1999 4:47PM Incidentally, what is wrong with teaching that some groups of people use faith, faith healing, belief in God, etc. to guide their lives and that it works for them.... instead our public propaganda "school" teach faith in government!
