They're competitors Junior. Microsoft must control the server side because the focus and importance of the desktop is rapidly evaporating. And Sun is far better positioned to control the desktop years from now than any other company. Java is like a slippery layer of oil between the OS and the apps, and hence Microsoft's reason for fighting it so hard. Java is coming down on the world like an avalanche. Developers love it and they love the freedom from the OS.

Windows is Lame. Sun's great 'desktop OS' is the Internet, and it's free.
