White knuckle SDRAM ride gets scarier

Reports reach us that prices of 128MB synchronous memory dropped by a staggering $30 plus over the last 12 hours.

But prices of the 64MB parts have stayed relatively stable, with no significant cuts during the same period.

US London Computers Inc and Micron were last night selling 128MB parts for $168, with others trading at around $170 or so.

This is one way, at least, for large PC companies to make more profits. Typically, they buy large quantities of memory and if they start selling, the market changes with them.

Go to Pricewatch, system memory, for more information about the fall in PC-100 SDRAM modules. ©
