I will (foolishly) enter into this Technical Analysis is dumb -- discussion.

Faced with the two following bad scenarios, I will always prefer the first one.

# 1 -- you are heavily involved in an investment (that is doing nothing) because all of the fundamentals indicate that what you are doing makes sense (e.g. -- being long QCOM since mid-1997 (as many of us were), watching it go nowhere for a year and a half).

# 2 -- you are again heavily involved ... because "the charts indicate that it is an extremely high probability event that the investment will work as you hope."

Imagine being a securities salesperson, and calling up a client with the "story" on an investment being solely "technicals." I think it is absurd.
