If God exists, and is of such a nature as to take an interest in us, it makes sense that He would reveal Himself to us, at least in part. I agree. If there is revelation, it makes sense that it would unfold as an historical process, in order to form the institutions that would best safeguard the message and ensure its continuation. Bit of a stretch. If there is a God, than this God is well aware of our infirmities and our power-seeking tendencies. Don't you think there'd be some concern, if "preserving the message" is such an issue, over the possibility that the individuals who make up these institutions might distort the message for their own benefit? Why inspire several dozen churches, knowing perfectly well that carnage will result? If there is a God, then God is omnipotent, right? If God wanted "to safeguard the message", She could put it on every bedroom wall every night, in letters of fire. If God wants to get a message to me, God can do it. God hasn't. I conclude that either there is no God, or God doesn't give a shit, or God expects me to figure out my own way with what I've got, which is what I'm doing.
