Steve, just read your comparison of cmgi and icge. While I heartily agree that cmgi's portfolio and track record put it way ahead of icge in the inet venture game, I note that you limit your valuations as if each baby/IPO was a stand alone rather than a part of the whole.

Did you do it this way in order to compare apples to apples, or because you don't believe the synergy business model to be worthy of a value-added analysis? My view has been that Alta Vista in the hands of cmgi is far more valuable a property than in the hands of compaq, since David Weatherall uses each of the holding to bolster the others, adding content and eyeballs from one to another. By in-breeding his companies, he makes each of them bigger and better than they might otherwise be one their own.
